The Calder School was identified as a CSI-UP school in 2022. Since then, the leadership team has met monthly to set schoolwide goals, monitor progress toward goals, and evaluate our systems and operations. Despite tremendous progress, the Calder School was re-identified as in need of school improvement in 2025. The leadership team is currently meeting bi-monthly to discuss plans for continued growth. The Schoolwide Improvement Plan can be viewed here.

School Week Schedule
The Calder School operates on a four-day school week. This allows students, teachers, and families to attend medical appointments and other engagements without impacting school attendance. The arrangement also allows us to meet the state-required seat time for students and schedule meetings and professional development for staff on Fridays rather than on a normal school day.
School Year
While Avery School District 394 values time with our students and takes great pride in their academic achievements and our staff’s professionalism, we also recognize the importance of spending time with loved ones. That is why Calder School students begin each school year in September after Labor Day and are released for the summer before the Memorial Day holiday in May. In order for students to get the most out of their time in school, an average of one Friday school day is scheduled per month.
Releasing for the summer before the Memorial Day holiday in May allows students and teachers to enjoy a significant summer break to reflect, relax, and recharge before the next school year begins.
